RE: Will this processor cause bottlenecking issues?
May not have enough money for that if I go with the asus, but I already have a gt240 (like a 9600Gt) would that be suitable?

Nah, then that'll be a bottleneck. Maybe get a cheaper motherboard, and a slightly slower CPU, and then get a nice graphics card along with that as well.

RE: Will this processor cause bottlenecking issues?
I could sell my MS wheel for x360 for $40 and have $400 to spend (that's more than what I paid for the computer itself XD).
I'll Post back.

with that list there, I'm up to $351.96. The RAM itself is just over $30, maybe try 2x1 as an alt?

what about a HD 4870 or a GTX 260?

$358
Dammit! I need fucking ram! Fucking DDR3! Wish I could just use my DDR2 667.

Here we go, this is likely a final list:
I used sone combo deals to save money.

Nice list. Except you would need more ram. At least 4GB, then it's perfect. Wink

Bringing this thread back, and maybe I can get some help from the new recruits Happyface

Does anyone know if I can just OC my GT 240 instead of getting a HD 6770?
(Like maybe up to GTS 250 specs? Or even GTX 260 specs?)

*-Kenwood-*

Hm.. According to the nVIDIA site, the GT 240 is faster than the GTX 260, but it has fewer CUDA cores :\

btw My model is the XFX GT240X 1GB GDDR5 ZHFC I think

RE: Will this processor cause bottlenecking issues?
That'd be a bad idea. Especially on a low range card like that.

RE: Will this processor cause bottlenecking issues?
Meh, I'm an nVIDIA person, so I'll just get a 550 Ti fermi. Or a 450, which is $30 cheaper. :/

My PC is having graphical issues now, thanks to nVIDIA's buggy software.

And so you know, a GT 240 is upper mid range, not low range. Low range is the GeForce 220. Was the 9600GT low range? nope.

Just remembered that the GTS 550, and the like are all rebadged 8800GT's Wink. The 450 is lower high range, and 260 is medium high range.

Please check your facts next time, I have researched nVIDIA's cards since mid 2009.

The GTS 250 was actually the equivalent of the 9800GTX+, an extremely powerful card, and the GTX 280 is nearly as fast as the rarer 9800GX2.

RE: Will this processor cause bottlenecking issues?
It is not upper mid range. My 5850 is mid-high range, high range is 6990, 580GTX etc. Mid range is 5770, 6770 etc. Low range is 9800GT, 260GTX, GT 240 etc.
Oh, and since you think you know so much about this, I just wanna say, that I've been following the marked for this stuff in more than 4 years now, so I know what I'm talking about. Typical nVidia and Intel fanboys. They ask for help, but end up not giving a *Removed*, and just chooses whatever they think is best, and then later regret it.

Do whatever you want, but don't come whine when the crap doesn't work. Wink

RE: Will this processor cause bottlenecking issues?
Honestly, I'm not a fanboy of intel, though I do like nVIDIAs.

The last two x1650 Pro's I have had never lasted more than a year without either completely dying, or having severe color issues. The first one burnt out, and the second one has heat damage, but it didn't die soon enough because the hard drive broke, being a 6 year old hard drive.

The stock 9800 pro on it from 2004 wasn't bad, 4 years must be alright.

I'm sorry for not being the most trustworthy person over ATi's products. I do think they are very good performers, but I am judging by price and reliability. I have friends who have 7300GT's and older still running today.

My bad for correcting you.

Cola, tbh any card that can run GTA IV on medium settings and get20-30 fps is no low range card.

Here's what cards that would fit in the following divisions, with first being lowest level and best in class at the end.

Budget:
Anything integrated, except the APU's,8400GS and lower, 9400 and lower, 7050 onboard, 4550 onboard ,anything less than a 4650

Low Range: 220, 320, 230, 330, GT 240 low power versions 9600GT Low power.

Mid range: Some GT 240's, 4670-5570, maybe some ATi 6 series, 9800GT, GTS 250-550, GTX 260-460, 9800GTX, 9800GTX+, 5670

High range: 9800GX2(very powerful), 5750-5870, GTX 280's dual sli, 6750 and up

If you do notice that the Radeons are higher range cards, they are good performers.

Intel? Overpriced.
AMD is better priced, and, yeah.

No fanboy here. -_-
