Well, ATi's products are very reliable indeed, why would I recommend something bad? Also, just because something might have been bad once, doesn't mean it's still bad today, for example, just take the car brand Skoda, which was crap just 15-20 years ago, look at them now, as they are owned by VW, they compete with other big brands now.
Oi, snuck your post in while I was editing.

I was judging them by their reliability because it seems to apply a lot to other things in this country.

It was also the way I was raised.

Noticed that you fought me over wanting an nVIDIA. Why?
9800GX2 is as powerfull as GTX260, which sucks compared to never cards. most cards you name, are outdated.
Get a HD6990. Problem solved.
Hehe but isn't the technology in the gx2 kinda cool? It's like two bad gpus put together.

Cheiver, let's see if I can afford it, a 5770 should be good enough. Don't forget that I have $357 and 2/3 if it is going to processor and motherboard, and if there is enough left over, a second hard drive.
I've got a HD 5670 and it's definitely bottlenecking my Phenom II X4 3.4 GHZ. If you do go for ATI, go for atleast 5850.
Let's see if I can afford it then...

a 5850 is over $130 minimum, a 5830 is $130 and a 5770 is 120$ at the lower end
Trying not to spend over $120 on a GPU, my dad paid around $120 for my GT240 8 months ago. O_o
What about the 6870, 6850 or 6830?
Hmm, let me check NewEgg.
Anything over 6790 is 140$ +.

My max that I can spend on a gpu is 122$
That doesn't make sense, as the 6790 is faster than the 6830.
